How to Install GameLab OS on R36H
GameLab OS is another custom firmware gaining traction in the RK3326 handheld community alongside ArkOS and DarkOS. Here's what it is and how to get it running on your R36H.

Like other custom firmware, GameLab OS runs from a second microSD card. Your stock card and games stay untouched, so you can always switch back.
What Is GameLab OS?
GameLab OS is a community-built firmware image for RK3326-based handhelds — the same chip family as the R36H and R36S. It's part of a growing wave of alternative firmware (alongside ArkOS, ROCKNIX, JELOS and DarkOS) that gives owners more choice over UI, defaults, and emulator configuration.

Because interest in GameLab OS is new and growing quickly, only download images from sources you trust (an established community wiki, forum or Discord with a track record). Avoid random file-sharing links.
What You'll Need
- A quality microSD card — a name-brand card such as a SanDisk 128GB card avoids most boot issues
- An SD card reader for your computer
- Balena Etcher (free) for flashing
- The latest GameLab OS image from a trusted community source
Step-by-Step Installation
- Download GameLab OS. Get the current release for RK3326 / R36S-class devices from a reputable community source.
- Flash the card. Open Balena Etcher, select the GameLab OS image, choose your spare microSD card, and flash — this erases the card.
- Insert the card. Power off the R36H and insert the flashed card into the TF1 (OS) slot.
- First boot. Power on and allow 2–5 minutes for first-time setup. Don't interrupt this process.
- Set the device profile. Choose the R36H / R36S profile if prompted so buttons and display map correctly.
- Configure. Set Wi-Fi and hotkeys, then you're ready to play.
